Learning System description

Command presence is not volume, dominance or corporate vocabulary. It is the disciplined ability to make an audience understand what matters, what is at stake, what you believe, what evidence supports it, what decision is needed and how confident you actually are.

This advanced course teaches that discipline as a repeatable communication method — altitude, message structure, recommendation, risk, bad news, challenge, credible uncertainty, delivery and meeting command — and then makes you practise it.

Learning System outcome

You will build and practise: a completed command-presence baseline audit; a personal authority map; calibrated certainty language; altitude translations of your own situations; complete executive messages; recommendation sets; risk frames; a bad-news briefing; rehearsed challenge and unknown-question responses; a delivery self-review; a meeting command plan and close script; and a dated 90-day maintenance plan.

Who it's for

This course is for:

  • Senior managers, directors and executives who communicate where decisions get made.
  • Program and operations leaders, technology and implementation leaders, customer and service leaders, and public-sector leaders.
  • Experienced professionals who work with stakeholders more senior than themselves. You do not need an executive title.

Who it's not for

This course is not for:

  • Anyone looking for scripts to sound important.
  • Anyone looking for techniques to project authority they do not hold.
  • Anyone looking for interview preparation — that is a different Academy course.

What you'll learn

You will learn:

  • What command presence actually is, and the five performance habits that quietly destroy it.
  • How to state your real authority accurately and still be the most credible voice in the room.
  • How to separate confidence from certainty and never be caught overstating.
  • How to choose communication altitude — detail, operational, management, executive — and hold it.
  • How to build a complete executive message in seven parts, in 90 seconds.
  • How to make a recommendation instead of reciting information, and when to decline to recommend.
  • How to frame risk and tradeoffs without panic or minimisation.
  • How to deliver bad news without hiding, blaming or overpromising.
  • How to answer challenge, disagreement, interruption and adversarial questions with composure.
  • How to say “I don't know” and gain credibility rather than lose it.
  • How to regulate observable behaviour under pressure.
  • How to deliver — pace, pauses, filler, presence, camera.
  • How to command a meeting from preparation to a close with decision, owner and next step.
  • How to translate technical and operational truth into executive relevance without losing accuracy.

5-module preview

  1. Module 1 — Foundations of Credible Command Presence

The credibility model of presence: what command presence actually is, how to state authority accurately at the truth boundary, and how to calibrate confidence to what you actually know.

  2. Module 2 — Executive Message Discipline

The Altitude Ladder, the seven-part Executive Message Line, and genuine brevity that leads with the conclusion instead of narrating the work.

  3. Module 3 — Decisions, Risk and Bad News

Building a complete recommendation set, framing risk and tradeoffs with likelihood, impact, horizon and reversibility, and delivering bad news with the Bad-News Line.

  4. Module 4 — Pressure, Challenge and Credible Uncertainty

Responding to challenge, pushback, disagreement and interruption; saying “I don't know” credibly; and regulating observable behaviour under pressure.

  5. Module 5 — Delivery, Meeting Command and Integration

Verbal and nonverbal delivery in person and on camera, commanding a meeting from preparation to the close, translating technical truth for executives, and a 90-day maintenance plan.

  • Executive Command Presence Baseline Audit & Habit Inventory

A 20-page baseline across altitude control, message discipline, composure under challenge and meeting presence, so growth is self-measured across the course.

  • Executive Message Construction Workbook

A 28-page workbook for altitude translation, the Executive Message Line, and complete recommendation sets built from your own situations.

  • Risk, Recommendation & Bad-News Communication Playbook

A 24-page playbook for framing risk honestly, drafting bad-news briefings, and building a rehearsed challenge response script bank.

  • Meeting Command & Stakeholder Practice Pack

A 22-page pack for meeting preparation, stakeholder profiling, and translating technical and operational truth into executive relevance.

  • Command Presence Performance Practice & Maintenance Toolkit

An 18-page toolkit carrying the seven practical scenarios, the delivery self-review, the baseline comparison, and the dated 90-day maintenance plan.

Assessment format

Each of the five modules ends with a seven-question knowledge check, passed at 5 of 7, retakeable after you acknowledge a brief remediation summary. The course ends with a 30-question final assessment passed at 24 of 30, timed at 45 minutes by the Academy rather than your browser, with three attempts per remediation cycle. You then complete a required self-assessed performance practical of seven scenarios, rated against a 12-dimension rubric with integrity checks on authority accuracy and confidence calibration. The Academy records only your confirmations and self-ratings, never your scripts, recordings or workplace content.
